Garden Tissue Topper In Plastic Canvas

Materials
 • 2 sheets 7-count plastic canvas
 • Uniek needloft plastic canvas yarn as listed in color key
 • DMC #3 pearl cotton as listed in color key
 • # 16 tapestry needle
 • 8 (5mm) round black cabochons from The Beadery
• 18 (4mm) round black cabochons from The Beadery.
• Sheet green felt
 • Pinking shears
 • Jewel glue
 • Hot-glue gun

Cutting & Stitching
 1. Cut plastic canvas according to graphs .

 2. With pinking shears, cut eight elongated almond-shaped leaves from green felt. varying length of leaves from 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches and width from 1/4 inch to 1 inch.

 3. Following graphs through step 7. work top and sides. Using holly throughout, Overcast inside edges of top and bottom edges of sides. Whipstitch long sides to short sides., then Whipstitch sides to top.

 4. For large flowers. stitch one with yellow center and lilac petals as graphed, one with yellow center and watermelon petals, one with yellow center and bright blue petals and one with pink center and yellow petals, Overcast each with petal color.

5. For small flowers, stitch two as graphed, three replacing watermelon with bright blue, one replacing watermelon with lilac, and three replacing watermelon with yellow and yellow French Knot with pink French Knot. Overcast with adjacent colors.

6. Stitch leaves and stems with holly. Work Straight Stitches in center of leaves when background stitch-ing is completed Overcast with holly.

 7. Using photo as a guide, for variation in facial expressions of flowers' faces, stitch mouths wIth very dark race pearl cotton, changing positions and shapes by working different lengths of stitches. Work French Knots in place of Straight Stitches for some mouths.


Assembly
1. Use photo as a guide throughout assembly. For eyes, using jewel glue, glue 5mm cabochons to large flowers and 4mm cabochons to small flowers. Using graphs only as placement guides. vary positions of cabochons to change expressions of flowers' faces.

 2. Using hot glue through step 5, glue one point of two felt leaves to back of each large flower in varying positions.

3. Glue fence to front of box, curving center out slightly from box Glue one large flower to one end of each stem. Glue stems to back of fence.

 4. Glue two flowers and two stitched leaves in a cluster to one short side. Glue remaining flowers and stitched leaves to Front of fence as desired.

 5. Glue remaining tips of felt leaves in varying positions, placing some close to mouths, some to sides of faces by ears as if listening or some to fence and smaller flowers.
